Yeremia 2:35
Konteks2:35 you say, ‘I have not done anything wrong,
so the Lord cannot really be angry with me any more.’
But, watch out! 1 I will bring down judgment on you
because you say, ‘I have not committed any sin.’
Yeremia 36:3
Konteks36:3 Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about all the disaster I intend to bring on them, they will all stop doing the evil things they have been doing. 2 If they do, I will forgive their sins and the wicked things they have done.” 3
[2:35] 1 tn This is an attempt to render the Hebrew particle often translated “behold” (הִנֵּה, hinneh) in a meaningful way in this context. See further the translator’s note on the word “really” in 1:6.
[36:3] 2 tn Heb “will turn each one from his wicked way.”
[36:3] 3 tn Heb “their iniquity and their sin.”
[36:3] sn The offer of withdrawal of punishment for sin is consistent with the principles of Jer 18:7-8 and the temple sermon delivered early in the reign of this king (cf. 26:1-3; 7:5-7).
